Dad's Cancer is back

My dad has cancer again. This time in his brain. It's a metastatic tumor from his lung cancer. It's above and behind his right ear. He is starting to have issues with movement on his left side. He's been on steroids to help control the swelling but it's making his face swell a lot.

We got to ride on the A380. Very nice!

Dad with his sensor on his head for an MRI.

Right after surgery.

Hanging out in his room.

Having fun with my sisters at dinner. It was a fun night.

Mindy's dog, Mojo. He is such a cutie.

The wine cellar.

Around the farm.

The neighbor across the street. The vineyard was let go years ago. Turned into an interested wooded area.

Hanging out with my dad before we left to go back to Dubai.

Right after we returned he had some bleeding on the brain so he had to go back to University Hospital in Cleveland to have another operation. He came through very well. Hurray!

How my dad is home and goes to therapy as he is re-learning to use his left side.

Happy Birthday Larry

Happy Birthday to Larry! Unfortunately timing was not on our side. Today Larry worked, made plane reservations around lunch time and left for the airport right away to join us in Ohio. At least we had wings and made him a cake. We'll have to celebrate more when we get back to Dubai. Happy Birthday honey!

OMG, I can't believe I did that!

Here's a good story... so I am a little stressed with getting ready for an art show, my dad's cancer being back, etc, etc. We go as a family out to eat at the mall. I drop everyone off at a door because Larry is still in a cast. I park and run inside. We leisurely eat, look at a few shops and come out over 2 hours later. As we get closer to the car we can see the lights on the dash lit up, that's weird. Oh crap the engine is running and the doors are locked! Can you believe that I left the car running, got out and locked the doors? What the heck???? In my defense the mall parking garage is loud, I couldn't hear the engine running. Plus the parking spaces are small, so I often open the door to look out to be sure that I am inside the lines. I guess that I looked out, yep, I'm good, locked the door and jumped out - of course because I was in a hurry to catch up with the family. Sigh...

DAA's International Food Fesitval

Forgot my camera that day, darn it! DAA has the most amazing International Food Festival. Over 40 countries hosted booths with food from their culture. Great fun. We'll really miss this event next year.

Dani's week without walls

This year Dani went to Vietnam for Week Without Walls. A big part of this trip was community service. They painted a school and taught the children American songs and games. They also did a lot of hiking, road bikes through the rice fields, made pottery, shopped, ate noodles, rice, sugar cane, bamboo and more. WWW is so amazing. I wish that we could do something similar in our US schools. Below are a few pictures. Her camera ran out of battery and she couldn't figure out how to make the adapter work... so not too many pictures.

Slacker

I have been a total slacker about posting! Too much traveling. I am planning to get up to date this week. More later... (wow just checked the date, we're a month behind)

Renee's Arabic Series of Paintings

Here are a few Dubai inspired paintings. I am hoping to sell the majority of them about our school's International Food Festival on Saturday.
