Fun in Harpersfield

We had lots of fun at my parents house in Harpersfield, OH, despite the fact that the day before we arrived my father found out he had lung cancer. He had a 10x13cm tumor in his right lung. Luckily they found a good surgeon who removed his lung within days of finding the cancer. He is now well on his way to recovery!

In between the trips to the hospital we did do a few fun things. Below are a few pictures.

Darlene's (my youngest sister) birthday party. Went out to Capp's in... I can't remember where, in the middle of no where of course.

One day we took the kids roller skating. A few year ago my mom took the girls skating and they loved it. Unfortunately the local rink has been closed so we went to one in a nearby town. We were pretty much the only people there. But we still had a good time.

My sister, Mindy, took us to Hog Back Ridge, though not far from my parent's house, I had never been there. Funny how we never seem to visit the great places in our own back yard. Hog Back Ridge is a great park on the... forget the name of the river but it dumps into the Grand River. We went more than once. The kids had a great time sliding down the waterfalls.

Lunch down at the lake at Eddie's Grill... a great hangout on the Geneva-on-the-lake "strip."

Afterwards we went for a walk on the beach.

The Harpersfield covered bridge.

We sat out in my parents gazebo at night and had a few drinks with the neighbors, who are great friends too! Jill, Chris and their 4 kids - Katelyn, Morgan, Rachel and Ben.
